Hi,
Currently I'm working on a website where the user can send a candle to someone.
I want to make the flame as realistic as possible.
This is how far I got with Flint: http://gertjan.com/flame_test.html (for some reason the followmouse only works with mousedown in the browser)
It doesn't look bad, but I still, I'd like some input :)
Thanks. -

Well it looks great. :) -

That looks excellent. I hesitate to suggest anything since it's so good already, but you might like to try adding small and variable crosswinds to simulate flickering in a breeze - perhaps a small and smoothly varying sideways acceleration would do it. -

Oh thanks :)
Check out the latest version: http://gertjan.com/flame/ (you can grab the matches)
I tweaked it some more, the only thing now is the performance.
There are two emitters in each flame, a center emitter (the white particles) and one for the background, the yellow/orange one.
The background uses 25 particles, the center uses 15 (both Steady emitters).
The container of both flames has a blurfilter ( 2, 2, 1 ) on it.
Any tips (especially on performance) are welcome :)
(ps: it's for a big candle producer, should be going live somewhere in january)
(ps2: oyeah, there are some issues with the self-combustion candle, i'll fix that, it's driving me crazy, waaaa :D)
