Show and tell: Using Flint to give a city a July 4 fireworks display

    Earlier this year officials in Stockton, California decided to eliminate the city's July 4 fireworks display to save money. As a Web content producer for The Record, Stockton's daily newspaper, I thought I might be able to still give local residents a taste of Independence Day through an online fireworks display.

    The Flint system made it possible. With a few modifications to the firework and sparkler examples and a little Actionscript, I was able to create an interactive feature that gives local residents some July 4 spirit.

    The feature launched today. Thanks to Richard for providing such a great platform!
