    This was may first project using FLiNT and I'm hooked! All of the game elements are particles except the player, which I will try to make a particle next time based on the flinteroids example in the documentation links.

    To create the star edges I placed two movieClips to the right of the stage and used FollowDisplayObject for the emitter, and moved the movieClips up and down each frame a random amount, while retaining a min and max distance from each other and the top and bottom of he stage. The stars behind the player are particles and used FollowDisplayObject as well.
    Some of the powerups like the moon and shooting star add actions to cause the particles to accelerate or add a force on the y axis proportional to the distance between the particle and the player, creating a magnet effect.
