I have an emitter that is emitting particles. I want some of these particles that pass over some letters (represented by a 2d bitmap) to stick to the bitmap and then for them to periodically escape. I would also like an anti-gravity effect from the mouse so if I run my mouse over the particles that have 'stuck' to the letters they are knocked off and float away.

Basically the look is: particles float from right to left. If they pass over some invisible letters they stick to them. If the user moves his mouse over the letters they no longer stick to them and continue to float away.

I can only seem to make the particles all go to the bitmap zone, rather than just the ones that go over it and am unable to get mouseantigravity to work using this technique.

Any help much appreciated, I'm thinking of building my own particle engine but I am sure I can do this in Flint!

You can't do what you want in Flint alone. But one of the goals of Flint was to make it easier to create your own custom effects without having to start from scratch. So you could do what you're after by writing a couple of custom Actions and letting Flint do the rest of the work. ]]>
