My need is very simple , but i don't know what the best practise to can do this , maybe to many coffee too :). So the main idear is to do a rain effect , and that rain is like a mask on an image. The problem is that i want to see all the image at begin ( mask all fill black per exemple ) , and the rain remove part of the image during fall.
I've tried to paint in alpha color particle but it's don't work, maybe try color map ... Another possibility can be to invert the renderer but will cost most , so another most performance focus idear is better.
Richard an idear?
Good sunny day :D]]>

It seems that, contrary to information that exists elsewhere on the web, when using a bitmap as a mask the entire rectangle of the BitmapData is used as a solid mask, irrespective of the alpha values of each pixel. I may be wrong but this is the behaviour I get when I run tests.
Would it work if you place the image behind the background then mask the background with the rain, using a DisplayObjectRenderer for the rain so there's no BitmapData rectangle to worry about. Then you should only see the former background (now the foreground) where the rain is, as if seeing it through the image. Or do you have to use a BitmapRenderer for the rain (because you're using filters, for example)?]]>
