Touch will dispatch both MOUSE_CLICK and TOUCH events, so you should be safe.

I have a 'mouse-move-particle-sparkler' effect that is set to a particular size. As I drag out of the particle area particles are generated right up to the edge where I see a sharp cut-off.
I have tried masking the BitmapRenderer (doesn't work, TBH didn't think it would, but worth a shot).
Is there a way I can set the 'mouse-active-area' in the Render area? (I would probably give the mouse-active area a padding of 50px all the way round)

This can be done but will need additional code on your part since the FollowMouse activity doesn't do what you need. You might try extending the FollowMouse class to do what you need.
